Program structure

program

In this concentration you will have theoretical courses side by side with supervised field work.

Theoretical courses

Your first year is dedicated to theoretical study of language processes, numerical cognition, attention and executive function, characteristics of learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder, and the principles of measurement and evaluation.

Supervised field work

This study includes getting to know the various diagnostic instruments and also gaining clinical experience in diagnosis of children and adults. Children are diagnosed in a specialized learning clinic at the Mount Scopus Campus. Adults are diagnosed in the University’s Learning Disabilities Diagnosis Center. If interested, you may expand your supervised work experience by applying for a student job as tester at the University’s center for diagnosis of learning disabilities. Students employed as testers will be supervised by the Center. There is a limited number of such positions.

The therapeutic process

This part of the program includes experiencing the therapeutic process in a clinic setting, and participating in workshops where you will learn about the way each of the disabilities discussed in the concentration are treated. Students will implement therapy methods supervised by the clinic instructor and will learn by observing therapy sessions given by the clinic instructors.
