Early-onset conduct problems: Psychopathology and intervention

Prof. Yoel Elizur

The research on the psychopathology of early-onset conduct problems focuses on the interplay between caregiver-child relationship patterns (parents and teachers) and children's early temperament and personality features, particularly indices of self-regulation and callous-unemotional traits. The intervention research is focused on Hitkashrut’s parent and teacher training programs for preschoolers with disruptive behaviors. We focus on the mediation of effects on child behavior by changes in both caregivers' practices and children's dispositional features. I am the chief designer of the Hitkashrut programs that were developed in collaboration with Israel' Educational Psychology Services, and are currently being disseminated by local public services throughout the country in diverse locations, including ultra-orthodox and Arab towns.
