Terms of admission and application procedures
Admission is based on your undergraduate grades and your MITAM score (standardized screening for graduate psychology programs in Israel). Separate admission processes are available to members of the Arab and the Jewish ultraorthodox communities (see below).
Grades
To apply for a graduate degree in this concentration, you must hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minimum grade of 87 in your psychology courses and a general minimum average grade of 85. In their application, candidates must be able to present grades for at least 42 credits, counting all compulsory first and second year courses, and grades for courses studied in the first semester of their third undergraduate year.
MITAM test
Candidates are required to take the standard psychology screening test (MITAM) which is usually scheduled in October. All the information is available on the website of the National Institute for Testing and Evaluation.
Applicants must have a MITAM score of at least 115. Your MITAM score is valid for three school years only.
Interview day
Interview invitations are sent according to MITAM scores and depending on the demand for places in this track. All candidates (including Arab and Jewish ultraorthodox candidates) must pass an interview as part of the concentration’s admission process.

Terms of admission for members of the ultraorthodox community
graduates of Jewish ultraorthodox education in Israel (recognized by the Ministry of Education) who studied only in ultraorthodox institutions.
Holders of a bachelor degree in psychology granted by an institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education. Psychology courses completed with a minimum average grade of 87, and a minimum general average grade of 85.
Minimum MITAM score of 85.

Discipline of your undergraduate degree
To apply for a graduate degree in this concentration, you must hold a bachelor degree in psychology or in behavioral sciences with an emphasis on psychology.
Candidates with a bachelor degree from a college must provide a university-recognized exemption from English language courses when they register.
Conversion courses
These conversion studies include all the compulsory and foundational courses in the department of psychology and their duration is at least two years, as listed in the course catalog.
For admission to the preparatory program, please register at the Admissions Office.
Please note: All candidates for this track must have a bachelor degree in a non-experimental science with a minimum average grade of 85 or a minimum average grade of 80 in an experimental science.
In addition candidates must satisfy one of the two following conditions:
- minimum multidisciplinary aptitude test (psycometric) score of 650.
- satisfy first year admission threshold score (based on the weighted score of the aptitude test and high school grades)
- direct admission if high school matriculation grade is 11.75
In addition, students must achieve English exemption by the end of their first year, compliant with University procedure.

Committing to a schedule
This is a two-year program of theoretical courses and supervised field work. In your first year you will attend two full days of classes (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and one (in the first semester) or two days (in the second semester) of field work. In your second year you will attend two days of classes (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and three days of field work in the first semester and two days of field work in the second semester.
How to apply
Register for university
If you studied in Israel, register online at the Hebrew University Admissions Office via the Hebrew University website. Please include all the documents described on the website.
Register at the School of Education
Create an account in the registration system, fill in your information, and upload your official transcripts (signed by the institution) that include your undergraduate average grade and certificate of eligibility for an undergraduate degree.
Also include a resume, statement of intent, and clinical and academic references.

General guidelines for writing a resume
Statement of intent
When writing your statement of intent follow these guidelines:
Include your path of personal and professional development, clearly describe your reasons for choosing this concentration and your professional and personal goals which are supported by a graduate degree in this concentration. Structure: up to 500 words on two double-spaced typed sheets, with 2.5 cm margins (all four sides).
References
Reference form for candidates of a master’s degree in psychology
Two references are required. One of the two letters must be for clinical experience or other pertinent practical experience. This reference must be written by an appropriate professional (e.g. psychologist, clinical social worker, psychiatrist) who has mentored the candidate in his or her practice. An academic letter of reference is also required. You may only request academic references from members of faculty of an academic institution who have personally supervised your work on a seminar paper or a lab, or are personally familiar with your academic work/research or a member of faculty who has been your field-work employer.
*If you do not yet have a certificate of eligibility for a bachelor degree, please enclose only your official transcripts (signed original) which list your undergraduate average grade.
