About the concentration

Adjusting instruction and learning to the 21st century requires us to re-examine how we conceive of adults and teachers. We must also rethink school structure, curriculum, and pedagogy. This concentration is the place to question old and innovative pedagogical traditions and examine their promise and their limitations. A serious discussion of these questions demands in-depth analysis of theoretical models and familiarity with the educational reality and current empirical research. This program trains teaching and learning experts, placing an emphasis on pedagogical innovation and advanced research, and on leading change in the field. 

The concentration of Learning and Teaching calls on you to:

  • dive into current pedagogical approaches and research about effective learning
  • lead renewal processes in pedagogy in the field
  • participate in intriguing research that is attempting to track down answers to the greatest questions in learning and teaching

Anyone interested in leading, developing, implementing, and researching how learning and teaching work in the 21st century in formal and informal settings.
