Exceptions committee

exams

Candidates whose grades do not meet the requirements by a small margin may apply to the School of Education’s Doctoral Committee in writing with a letter from their supervisor explaining why the supervisor in interested in accepting the candidate. If the exception concerns the grades for graduate courses, the candidate and supervisor must propose a conversion course program based on graduate degree curriculum. The candidate will be required to complete the conversion program with a minimum average grade of 90, and at least 85 in each of the courses. This program must be approved by the Doctoral Committee. Once the graduate conversion program has been approved, the committee can recommend that the Authority for Research Students approves the candidacy. After completing the graduate conversion program and meeting the requirements described above students may apply for the doctoral program. Candidates who do not meet the grade requirement for the final paper will be asked to write a theoretical paper which forms an expansion on the theoretical aspects of the pre-proposal. Once this paper is approved by the Doctoral Committee, the student will be permitted to apply for the doctoral program.
