Integrated program in Education Science

There are two tracks in this concentration, targeting two different audiences: The individual honors track and the standard track. The honors track is geared toward students interested in pursuing a career in research and it is an individualized program. The standard track allows students to choose either the thesis or the non-thesis track, and is a structured program with predefined units.

Standard track

Who is this for?

This concentration aims to give students an advanced general schooling in education. In this concentration, students are exposed to many educational occupations. It is particularly suited to students who are interested in an expanded and diversified perspectove of questions in education. This program is also suited to educators who are interested in a general degree in education to enhance their work.

What can I do with my degree?

When you complete this program you will have a master's degree in education and are qualified for a position in both formal and informal education, in government agencies, local authorities, research institutes, and private organizations.

What?

The standard track allows you to integrate several areas in education science and at the same time specialize in a specific domain.

How?

There are compulsory courses in education, electives in three divisions, and general electives in this program.

The three divisions

  • Teaching, learning, and thinking (courses in the philosophy of education and in teaching and learning)
  • Organization and society (courses in the sociology of education, and in educational policy administration and leadership)
  • Personal and interpersonal processes (courses in special education and in educational counseling)

Individualized honors track

Who is this for?

This track is designed for holders of an honors bachelor degree in education or in associated disciplines interested in pursuing a career in research as interdisciplinary educational experts.

What can I do with my degree?

When you complete this program you will have a master's degree in education and are qualified for a position in government agencies, local authorities, research institutes, private organizations, and in teaching and research.

What?

The honors track combines an interdisciplinary approach to education and individual mentoring which create the opportunity for specializing in a specific area based on your personal preferences.

Why?

Education today has multiple goals (liberating humanity, self-actualization, teaching heritage, vocational training in a global economy) is practiced in diverse environments (ethnic, religious, cultural) in a reality that is constantly readjusting to changes in technology, and requires an interdisciplinary perspective encompassing philosophy, pedagogy, psychology, cognitive science, and sociology.

How?

Studies include compulsory courses mandated by the program, field trips, and individualized courses selected by each student in consultation with their thesis supervisor depending on areas of interest and the master’s programs offered by the School of Education, mainly in the theoretical concentrations (philosophy and sociology of education, Jewish education, and learning and teaching).

Scholarships

Honors students in this track are offered a scholarship and/or a partial tuition refund. In addition, students in the program will be given priority in being considered for positions of research assistants or teaching assistants in the introductory courses.
