ד"ר יונת רום היא מרצה בבית הספר לחינוך ע"ש שלמה (סימור) פוקס באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. תחומי ההוראה והמחקר העיקריים שלה ממוקדים באינטראקציות חברתיות ויחסים חברתיים בין אנשים עם מוגבלויות/אנשים מהמגוון הנוירולוגי ואנשים בהתפתחות טיפוסית, בתוך המשפחה, במסגרות חברתיות חינוכיות ובהקשרים חברתיים נוספים. מוקד עניין מיוחד במחקרה הוא אמפתיה ביחסים החברתיים המשולבים, האופי הדו כיווני של אמפתיה, מגבלות ומשברים באמפתיה באינטראקציות משולבות, וגורמים שעשויים להגביר אמפתיה. ד"ר רום היא בוגרת תכנית עמיתי עזריאלי, השלימה את לימודי הדוקטורט באוניברסיטת תל אביב, ואת הכשרת הפוסט דוקטורט במחלקה לפסיכולוגיה באוניברסיטה העברית ובמרכז למחקר אוטיזם באוניברסיטת קיימברידג', איתו היא מקיימת בימים אלו שיתוף פעולה במחקר על אמפתיה כלפי אנשים מהמגוון האוטיסטי.

Dr. Yonat Rum is a lecturer at the Seymour Fox School of Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her main areas of research and teaching include social interactions and relationships between people with disabilities/neurodivergent people and typically developing people in the family, educational settings, and other social contexts. A particular focus in her studies is empathy in mixed-neurotype interactions, the bi-directional nature of empathy, breakdowns in empathy in mixed-neurotype interactions, and factors that might promote empathy. Dr. Rum completed her Ph.D. at Tel Aviv University and is an alumna of the Azrieli Fellows program. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Hebrew University’s psychology department and at the Autism Research Centre at the University of Cambridge, with which she currently collaborates on the study of empathy towards autistic people.
