The work in my research group is devoted to theorizing teaching and learning in the age of globalization and digitalism, an age characterized by the ubiquity of digital technology, an information explosion, pluralism, rapid changes, and frequent encounters with myriad viewpoints, some different from and conflicting with one’s own. We deal with two core questions: (a) How does digital technology – especially the informal experience of students (at various age levels) with computers and the Internet – influence learning? (b) Given that digital technology influences students, how can effective teaching environments be characterized? We employ various methodological approaches, including discourse analysis and mixed methods.
